Mathematics Training and Talent Search Programme

An Initiation into Mathematics (InitMath) Programme will be organized at Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, Purulia, West Bengal during September 17 — 22, 2024.

All the participants will be provided with local hospitality and study material. Accommodation will be provided for the outstation participants. Outstation participants will also be provided with Government (non-AC) bus fare/Sleeper class train fare which ever is the least on production of original tickets.

Academic programme

There will be courses in Foundations, Linear Algebra and Real Analysis. The courses will be taught by highly experienced faculty in MTTS teaching methodology.

Eligibility

Undergraduate students with mathematics who have completed their first year in the academic session 2023-24 are eligible for this camp. Students from West Bengal and those from neighbouring states will be given preference.

Selection

The selection will be on merit, based on consistent and good academic records and recommendation by a mathematics teacher.

About the Institute

Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, established on 6th July, 2010, is situated in Purulia, the western-most district of Bengal. The Department of Mathematics of SKB University has its initiation from the very inception of the University and has an current intake capacity of 45. The department has at present 06 energetic and dedicated faculty members who are working in diverse areas of mathematics, and it also boasts of hosting visits of a good number of distinguished mathematicians every year.
