Mathematics Training and Talent Search Programme

An Initiation into Mathematics (InitMath) Programme will be organized at Department of Mathematics, Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh during September 4th – 9th, 2023.

Academic programme

Three fundamental courses in mathematics will be taught by faculty, who are highly experienced in the MTTS teaching methodology. The aim of the instructions is not to give routine lectures but to stimulate the participants to think and discover mathematical results.

Eligibility

Second year undergraduate students with mathematics as one of their main subjects are eligible. Students from Madhya Pradesh will be given preference, and those from neighbouring states will be considered.

Selection

• The selection will be on merit, based on consistent and good academic records, and recommendation by a mathematics teacher.

• The list of selected candidates will also be posted on the MTTS webpage by August 14th, 2023. Only selected candidates will be informed of their selection.

• Sleeper class train fare or (non-AC) state bus fare and accommodation will be provided to the selected non-local (outstation) participants. Food will be provided to all the participants.

• While the students report at the programme venue, they should bring a bonafide certificate from their institute and undertaking form signed by the student and parent in the format available at the page http://mtts.org.in/downloads

About the organizing institute

Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (A Central University), formerly University of Saugor, was established on 18th July 1946 by Dr. Sir Harisingh Gour by his lifetime saving. It is the oldest and the biggest University of Madhya Pradesh. The University has 36 teaching departments, 9 schools and 175 affiliated colleges. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics was established in the year 1946. From the very foundation day of the department, teaching and research went together. The teachers of the Department have been receiving national and international recognition and financial support for their high quality research. The Department has made notable research contributions in many areas of mathematics. This department has been the oldest one in this region which has always catered the needs of the society to their satisfaction.
