Mathematics Training and Talent Search Programme

An Initiation into Mathematics (InitMath) Programme will be organized at Department of Mathematics, Ram Chandra Uniyal Govt. P. G. College, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand during March 11 – 16, 2024.

Academic programme

Three fundamental courses in mathematics will be taught by faculty, who are highly experienced in the MTTS teaching methodology. The aim of the instructions is not to give routine lectures but to stimulate the participants to think and discover mathematical results.

Eligibility

Second year undergraduate students with mathematics as one of their main subjects are eligible. Students from Uttarakhand will be given preference, and those from neighbouring states will be considered.

Selection

• The selection will be on merit, based on consistent and good academic records, and recommendation by a mathematics teacher.

• The list of selected candidates will also be posted on the MTTS webpage by Mon, Feb 19th, 2024. Only selected candidates will be informed of their selection.

• Sleeper class train fare or (non-AC) state bus fare and accommodation will be provided to the selected non-local (outstation) participants. Food will be provided to all the participants.

• While the students report at the programme venue, they should bring a bonafide certificate from their institute and undertaking form signed by the student and parent in the format available at the page http://mtts.org.in/downloads

About the organizing institute

Ram Chandra Uniyal Govt. P. G. College is in Uttarkashi, established on 30 June, 1969 with three subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at undergraduate level. It is one of the premier higher education institutes in Garhwal region of Himalayas. The campus of the college is spread near the bank of river Bhagirathi, in Uttarkashi, which is famous for its religious places.

Affiliated to Sridev Suman Uttarakhand Univerity, the college primarily imparts education to rural youth in disciplines such as Humanities, Science, Commerce and Education at undergraduate and postgraduate level. With more than 2700 students, 56 faculty members and 50+ administrative and technical staff, regional centre of IGNOU, Centre of Uttarakhand open university, Career Counselling cell and a wi-fi campus, the college is striving to leave an imprint on the landscape of higher education in Uttarakhand.
