Mathematics Training and Talent Search Programme

A PTMT Programme will be organized at Department of Mathematics, Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar 388120, Anand, Gujarat during 03-08 March 2025.

Participants will be provided with local hospitality. Limited accommodation for selected outstation participants is available at Sardar Patel University Guest House. Outstation participants will be provided Government bus fare/3 Tier AC /Sleeper class train sleeper return fare whichever is the least on production of original tickets.

Academic programme

Theme of the programme would be Complex Analysis.

Eligibility

Full time Teachers in Mathematics working in Government/aided/ un-aided colleges/Engineering colleges/or full-time research scholars/post-doctoral fellows from the state/nearby states may apply. Preference will be given to young teachers.

About the Institute

The Department of Mathematics, Sardar Patel University, Gujarat established in 1958, offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. Programs in Mathematics; and has a total strength of 10 faculty and nearly 150 students. The Teaching Program is a blend of Pure, Applied and Applicable Mathematics.

The study domains include Banach Algebras, Operator Theory and Operator Algebras, Function Algebras, Harmonic Analysis on weighted groups and semigroups, Approximation Theory, Special Functions, Relativity Theory, Number Theory, and Financial Mathematics.

NBHM Regional Library (Western Region) is housed in the Department. The Department has strong computational facility. The Annual Problem Solving Workshops is a regular feature of the Department. More than 110 students have cleared NET/NET JRF/ GATE/NBHM Tests. The faculty has lured laurels like Common Wealth Fellowships, DAAD, IASc Fellowship and awards for research papers adjudged best. The faculty has effectively established national and international research relationships.

How to Reach the institute

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, is around 80 kilometers from Vallabh Vidyanagar (VVN). Another domestic airport is Vadodara which is about 50 kilometers from VVN. One can hire a cab or can reach nearby railway station or bus station from the airport and travel by public transport services.

The nearest railway station is the Anand railway station (6 km from the University) which is on the main line Bombay-Ahmedabad (Mumbai-Ahmedabad) and there are direct trains between Anand and all major cities of India.

The nearest state bus station is the (New) “Anand Bus Stand” which is about 4 kilometers from the university.

Registration Fee

There is no registration fee for the programme.
