Mathematics Training and Talent Search Programme

A Pedagogical Training for Mathematics Teachers (PTMT) Programme will be organized at the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu during December 11-16, 2023.

Eligibility

Any mathematics teacher, teaching in UG/PG departments. Preference will be given to young and teachers from Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states.

Selection

Selection will be based on the data provided in the application form. Only selected candidates will be informed of their selection by November 25, 2023.

Registration Fee

There is no registration fee for the programme.

Local hospitality

Participants will be provided with local hospitality. Accommodation for outstation participants shall be arranged at the hostels/guest house of CUTN, Thiruvarur (on sharing basis). Outstation participants will be provided Government bus fare/3 Tier AC /Sleeper class train sleeper return fare which ever is the least on production of original tickets

About the Institute

Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur “Tucked away amidst the paddy fields of the lower Cauvery Delta, the modest but ancient town of Thiruvarur lies on the left bank of river Odamboki, one of the distributaries of Cauvery. Some five km to its north, another branch of Cauvery, river Vettar, flows in its straight course to the east to empty into the Bay of Bengal. The Central University of Tamil Nadu, which was started in 2009, sits straddling this river course to the north-west of Thiruvarur in the quiet paddy tract of the lower Cauvery Basin.” The University has 28 academic departments of study offering 64 different programmes in various disciplines.

Department of Mathematics at Central University of Tamil Nadu was established in 2010. We offer five year Integrated M.Sc., two year M.Sc., and PhD programmes. This department has been recognized by National Board for Higher Mathematics via Library Grants and Department of Science and Technology through FIST scheme (2023 – 2028).

Theme of the programme

The programme will concentrate on basic Linear Algebra. The topic of Linear Algebra can be approached and understood in a geometric way with lot of visualizations. This geometric flavour needs to be transmitted to the students in a rigorous and clear manner. The objective of the programme is to train the teachers to teach Linear Algebra in an enjoyable and meaningful way.
