Mathematics Training and Talent Search Programme

An Initiation into Mathematics (InitMath)  Programme will be organized at IIT Dharwad during January 26 to 31, 2026.

Eligibility

Second year undergraduate students currently in their 3rd or 4th semesters with mathematics as one of their main subjects are eligible.
Students from Karnataka and its neighbouring states will be considered, with preference given to those from regions not covered by previous InitMath camps in 2025–26.

Selection

• Selection will be on merit, based on consistent and good academic records, and recommendation by a mathematics teacher.
• The list of selected candidates will be posted at this webpage. Only selected candidates will be informed of their selection.
• Food will be provided to all selected participants. For the non-local participants who are selected, accommodation will be provided and sleeper class train fare or non-AC state bus fare will be reimbursed.
• Other instructions and guidelines for selected applicants will be published at this webpage.

Registration Fee

There is no registration fee for the programme.

About the Institute

The Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IITDH) began its academic journey in 2016–17. The design of the 470-acre permanent campus, where sessions started in 2022, is based on the theme of a Sustainable Green Campus, inspired by the historical origins of Hubballi–Dharwad.

The Department of Mathematics was established in 2016, since the inception of the institute, to provide a strong foundation in mathematics and to motivate students for higher studies.
The department aims to become a centre of excellence in mathematics through high-quality research and teaching.

The department has a strong teaching and research faculty, involved in diverse areas of mathematics. It offers:

• A PhD programme

• A two-year MSc programme in Mathematics

• A B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing (in collaboration with other departments)

• A Mathematics major in the BS-MS (Interdisciplinary Sciences) programme
