Student Training Programmes – Application Procedure for students

MTTS and Initiation into Mathematics follow a uniform procedure for receiving student applications. In case a particular programme follows a different procedure for receiving applications, it will be mentioned in the programme specific webpage itself.

Before starting the application process

  • Check the eligibility criterion. Who can apply will be mentioned in the programme webpage itself. Also, some of the programmes would be restricted to a specific state or a region. To those programmes, only such students need apply.
  • Get the full address with designation, and email address of a teacher acquainted to you, and who will be ready to give recommendation for you. Please check the email address for any spelling mistakes.
  • Make sure that you have completely read all the instructions below and all the instructions in the programme webpage.

Steps for completing the application procedure

  1. Visit the online application site at https://5dspace.mtts.org.in
  2. If you are already registered, use the same email id for every programme to apply, as your academic records will be readily available to use instead of requiring you to add it again.
  3. If you are not registered, register it using an email id (preferably a gmail or yahoo email id, as some institute email ids block our registration and other intimation emails suspecting them as spams. Believe us; we do not spam!)
  4. Registration emails may take 30-60 minutes to reach your inbox, depending on the server traffic.
  5. Confirm your registration using the link you receive.
  6. Login to the system.
  7. Check that your institute is in the institute database. For submitting applications to academic programmes, or for availing financial support, it is necessary for your institute to be in the institute database. Check if it’s already added. If it’s not there, please add it yourself. If it’s already there but has mistakes, please raise a complaint to ask us to fix it.
  8. Complete your Applicant Profile — your personal details, address, and institute, filled in once under “My Profile.” This is reused automatically for every application you make on this platform, so you won’t need to re-enter it each time.
  9. Add your Academic Qualifications — also entered once under your profile, not per application — your SSC/HSC/UG/PG records with subject-wise marks and scanned marklists. These, too, carry over automatically into every application.
  10. Click on Academic Programmes on the top.
  11. Check the category of programmes (MTTS, Initmath etc), click on the desired programme category.
  12. Click on the programme name in the next page, read the instructions carefully, and proceed.
  13. Fill in this application’s own details — your requested level, and your previous participation in InitMath/MTTS/Overture-type programmes (self-declared, up to 3 entries). Unlike your profile and academic records, this is specific to this application and isn’t shared with any other application you make.
  14. Name your recommending teacher — their title, name, designation, email, phone, and institute.
  15. Save to reach the Final Preview, which shows exactly how your submitted application (and its PDF) will look.
  16. Declare & Submit — after you confirm, your application is submitted, a PDF is generated automatically, and your recommending teacher is emailed a secure link to review it.
  17. What your recommender does: they open their own secure link, review your academic records, and either accept & rate your application, decline, or send it back to you with a remark if something needs fixing — in which case you can edit and resubmit it.
  18. Check the programme web page for selection list.
  19. Students whose name appear in the selection list should confirm their participation following the instructions given in the webpage.

Managing your application

These are available any time from your application’s own page on the portal, even after you’ve submitted it.

Track your status

See anytime whether your application is still Draft or has been Submitted, and whether your recommender has responded yet, plus a link to download the generated PDF.

Resend Recommendation Request

If your teacher hasn’t received or acted on the email, use this button to send it again. Available anytime before they accept or decline — no limit on how many times.

Change Recommending Teacher

Entered the wrong teacher’s email? Replace their details to trigger a fresh request to the new email. A one-time option, available only 24 hours after submission (once your PDF is generated), and only while your original recommender hasn’t yet responded.

The details of the confirmation process will be explained in the programme details page.
