An Initiation into Mathematics (InitMath) Programme will be organized at the Department of Mathematics, National Institute of Technology Puducherry during December 8 – 13, 2025.
- All the participants will be provided with local hospitality and study material.
- Accommodation will be provided for the outstation participants.
- Outstation participants will also be provided with Government bus fare/Sleeper class train return fare whichever is the least on production of original tickets.
Eligibility
Second year (3rd/4th semester) undergraduate students with Mathematics as one of their main subjects are eligible. Exceptionally bright first year students also may apply. Students from U.T.
of Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Kerala will be given preference.

Registration Fee
There is no registration fee for the programme.
Selection
The selection will be on merit, based on consistent and good academic records and recommendation by a mathematics teacher.

Mathematics programme to which students are admitted through the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM), conducted across the country every year. It also offers a Ph.D. programme in various fields of mathematics and interdisciplinary areas.
How to reach
National Institute of Technology Puducherry (NITPY) is situated in Karaikal, which is 128km away from Puducherry towards the south. The Institute is about 9km from Karaikal bus stand and 11km from the Karaikal railway station.
a) To reach the Institute by train: The nearest railway station is Karaikal (KIK)
b) To reach the Institute by bus: The nearest bus stop is at Varichikudy Arch, 6km from the Karaikal bus stand on ECR (NH-32) towards Chidambaram, Puducherry, Chennai.
